Think of Knysna and what do you think of? The Heads, Knysna lagoon, oysters, beautiful beaches, forests, perhaps East Head Café? Then look no further because Hope Villa ticks all those boxes!

IT’S ALL ABOUT LOCATION!

Hope Villa is situated at The Heads, 6kms from the centre of town but close enough to be able to nip back there if you want to experience more of the town “hustle and bustle”.  The surroundings here are peaceful and tranquil.  Hope Villa is set on a large property so there is plenty of off-street parking and a lovely garden with swimming pool, trees and the constant sound of birds going about their business! Peaceful garden and swimming pool at Hope Villa B&B at Knysna Heads We love birds and you will get to meet our wagtail couple who visit daily for grated cheese, or our cheeky Cape Robins who are as tame as pets (they also love cheese) and numerous ‘witoogies’, mouse birds and weaver birds will keep you entertained during breakfast as they snack on the bananas that we have in a feeder at our front veranda.  We are sometimes spoilt with a visit from an owl, Knysna Loeries and more recently a Burchell’s Coucal that has a weak spot for cheese!A short amble down the road and you’re at the sea where the views will take your breath away.  The Indian Ocean enters the Knysna lagoon through The Heads (we are on the East Head) and every day down at the lagoon is different.  There are many benches and viewpoints where one can just sit and watch the water coming and going (the change of tides is very interesting to watch because the water moves very fast and strong through The Heads), fishermen hoping to catch “the big one”, the pleasure boats having fun on the lagoon or the resident seals having putting on a show in the water.

CHILDREN WELCOME

Your kids will love it here!  Plenty of space for them to spread out and have fun.  And in summer you will battle to get them out of the swimming pool at the end of the day.  Children always sleep well here because their days are filled with sun, sea, sand and fresh air.  The added up-side to that is that it gives parents some down-time in the evenings to relax on the front veranda with a bottle of wine.

KICKSTART THE DAY WITH OUR DELICIOUS BREAKFAST

Kickstart your day with our hearty breakfast options at Hope Villa B&B at Knysna Heads

Our breakfasts cater for all appetites and will really set you up for the day!  We serve a variety of breakfast cereals, yoghurts, a selection of breads and seasonal fresh fruit salad.  We then offer eggs cooked to your liking and served with crispy bacon and other little sides, depending on what we decide on the day!  You certainly won’t go hungry here!

AMPLE SECURE OFF-STREET PARKING

We are one of the lucky accommodation establishments at The Heads in that we have ample secure off-street parking under the shade of our trees.  That is a real blessing in the summer months when parking down here at The Heads is in high demand!

NEARBY ATTRACTIONS

Hope Villa is situated in such a perfect part of Knysna that one doesn’t even have to get into the car to go anywhere but can still experience awesome sights and lovely beaches!  A couple of metres down the road takes you to a small little beach on the lagoon.  It is calm with no waves so ideal for young children.  When the tide is high though, the little beach is under water so best to go at low tide!  Then if you walk in the other direction from Hope Villa and take one of the roads up the hill, after a beautiful 15 minute walk you will reach the top East Head viewpoint.  Plenty of beautiful scenery close to Hope Villa B&B at Knysna HeadsWow, this view will take your breath away!  You can see right over the lagoon to Lake Brenton, across Leisure Isle to Thesen Island and then through The Heads to the Indian Ocean.  In whale season you will more than likely get to see a whale or two moving past in the bay.  Every time you go up to this viewpoint the sea and the lagoon will be different, be it high tide, low tide, turquoise blue or dull grey blue.  You won’t ever tire of going up there.  If you carry on a bit further down the hill to the other side of the top view point and walk down, down, down the road you will reach Coney Glen Beach.  This beach is not recommended for swimming as you will see by the generally rough conditions.  But there are many little rocky beaches down at Coney Glen and it is a lovely place to spend time amongst the rock pools looking for “sea treasure”!  Just keep your eye on the incoming waves!  When you are down on the beach have a look up the steep rock face of the East Head and you will see the viewing deck that overlooks the Indian Ocean is way above you!  Very impressive.  Leisure Isle is another easy 4km walk along George Rex Drive.  Steenbok Nature Reserve is on the town-facing side of Leisure Isle. You will find lovely indigenous gardens with benches under the trees throughout the reserve area, easy walking paths and wide open spaces which makes this tranquil side of Leisure Isle a must-do!  Awesome views and scenic walks in the vicinity of Hope Villa B&B at Knysna HeadsWalking around to the other side of the island you will be met with a beautiful view towards The Heads.  When the tide is low you can walk far out on the sands of the lagoon.  Bollard Beach is also a lovely, calm swimming beach with no waves so also ideal for young children.

YOUR HOME-AWAY-FROM-HOME COMFORTS

If you want your holiday accommodation to provide that homely feel then Hope Villa is your obvious choice.  We are hands-on hosts and are always available to give tips on where to go, what to see and where to eat!  We love to share our knowledge of the area with our guests to ensure that they leave Knysna with the promise of returning one day because there was not enough time to fit in all the many activities on offer!  Hope Villa is a relaxed bed and breakfast where you can feel free to put your feet up and relax or to stretch out on the couch on the front veranda in the afternoon and have a nap (it’s a fabulous spot for doing just that!).  Our comfy beds will ensure you sleep like a baby and because there is no night-time city noise you might even need to set your alarm to wake up in the mornings!  We speak English, German and Afrikaans and love meeting new people.

FOR THE SPORTY TYPES

So you like to wake up in the morning and go for a jog?  Or play a round of golf? Or maybe you prefer water activities?  Another reason for choosing Hope Villa!  A good cardio jog to the top of the East Head or a flatter but longer jog to and around Leisure Isle is what many of our guests do to work up a breakfast appetite.  We are close to two fantastic golf courses.  2 Kilometres down George Rex Drive you will find Knysna Golf Course or if you want a slightly more difficult course with views that might just distract you from your game, then Pezula is almost on our doorstep too.  You choose!  We will gladly lend your our kayak when you visit Hope Villa B&B at Knysna HeadsOne of our favourite things to do in summer is paddle out on our kayak and see what we find!  We have had beautiful sightings of seals in the lagoon chasing shoals of fish, seen stingrays as they dart through the lagoon water but even if you don’t get that lucky it is always a treat to hop overboard and have a dip in the crystal clear waters of the lagoon on a summer day.  You are welcome to borrow our kayak to explore the lagoon from a different perspective.

RESTAURANTS NEARBY

Hungry?  The restaurant options in the vicinity of Hope Villa will keep you from going hungry!  Just down the road from us you will find East Head Café.  You cannot beat that view!!  Food, service and location are absolutely perfect.  In summer you should be prepared to wait for a table (no bookings taken).  On Leisure Isle you will find Nadine’s Corner and Bodega’s.  Both are only open during the day.  Good for light meals, cakes, coffees.  Nadine’s Corner offers a delicious Sunday roast!  Head back down George Rex Drive in the direction of town you will find Blend Country Restaurant – set under the trees and open from late afternoon it is a peaceful place with good food and a play area for kids.  It is re-opening this week, under new management so we look forward to going back there after the extended closure during lockdown.  Keep going down George Rex and you will come to Bosun’s Pub & Grill.  Super bar, separate dining area or you can sit on their balcony to enjoy your meal.  Very good food and service.  Steaks, ribs and eisbein are recommended!

You just won't be disappointed!
